Vancouver, WA – A free workshop showcasing creative uses of LED lighting, including how it can lower electricity bills, is scheduled for Wednesday, March 19.

Sponsored by Environmental Services’ Clark County Green Business Program, the workshop is set for 3:30-5 p.m. at the Heathman Lodge, 7801 N.E. Greenwood Drive.

The event also will provide information on the recent price reduction for LED lighting and financing options and incentives, such as from Clark Public Utilities, to help property owners, managers and tenants pay for LED upgrades.

Light-emitting diode, or LED, lights have several advantages over traditional incandescent bulbs. They use far less electricity, last much longer, are more difficult to break and produce relatively little heat. Until recently, however, consumers had to pay more for LED lights.

“The cost of LED lighting has dropped significantly in the past year,” said Don Benton, director of Environmental Services. “It can more than pay for itself through lower energy costs, so we’re connecting industry specialists with the community. We want all of Clark County to benefit from these savings.”

While rebates and incentives are available only for commercial properties, all community members are welcomed to attend the March 19 workshop. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served. Afterward, participants can join industry specialists for an informal question and answer session.

Registration is required. Please register at the Clark County Green Business Program website at
