The Clark County Youth Commission is pleased to announce the 17th annual county-wide celebration recognizing the achievements of youth that demonstrate personal growth and community contribution.
Nominations for the 17th Annual Youth Achievement Awards are being accepted for a celebration scheduled Sunday, June 14, 2015. Nominations must be postmarked by Tuesday, March 24, 2015.
The Youth Commission is a diverse group of 30 youth from throughout Clark County dedicated to bringing the voices of youth into the community and raising awareness about the remarkable achievements made by youth year round.
It is our belief that every young person has the potential for achievement in one or more of the following 13 categories: Arts, Career Development, Citizenship, Courage, Education, Empathy, Environmental Stewardship, Family Life, Inspiration, Leadership, Personal Achievement, Sportsmanship, and Tolerance.
The Youth Program of the Clark County Department of Community Services consists of the following programs and projects:
- Children's Mental Health Initiative
- Clark County Youth Commission
- Community Mobilization
- Substance Abuse Prevention
- Teen Talk
- Youth House
- Safe Communties Task Force
These programs and projects, with the support of dedicated staff and community members, work to address the needs of youth and their families throughout Clark County. The focus of our work is youth-driven and designed to promote the health of youth by building on their strengths.
Funding from state, federal and local sources help provide support for achieving our goals:
- Build "Developmental "Assets"
- Create opportunities for youth voice
- Prevent substance abuse, violence and other social ills
