Step Three: Mail in notarized affidavit and fee

Applications must be received with the $72.00 non-refundable fee (cashier’s check or money order, payable to the Clark County Auditor) before the license will be prepared. This fee is non-refundable

Step Four: Once processed, we will mail your marriage packet to you unless you contact us requesting to pick it up in office.

Step Five: Get Married

Once your license is processed in our office you must wait at least three days before the marriage can take place. (The day your license is processed in our office is day one.) Your license will be valid for 60 days after issuance. This waiting period is Washington State law and cannot be waived, so plan ahead.

Step Six: Return the certificate, signed by all parties

After you have gotten married, the signed original marriage certificate must be returned to the Clark County Auditor's Office. The certificate can be returned by mail or in person. If you need a copy of your marriage certificate, click here for instructions.

Marriages are Public Record

All marriage records are a matter of public record. The one exception to this is for those enrolled in the State's Address Confidentiality program. Once a license has been recorded, it cannot be "unrecorded."
