In addition to voting by mail, voters may vote using accessible voting units (AVUs) at the Elections Office at 1408 Franklin Street, Vancouver. Citizens are also welcome to come to the Elections Office for a hands-on demonstration of how to vote using an AVU. Call the Elections Office at (360) 397-2345 or email us at elections@clark.wa.gov to arrange an appointment to vote using an AVU or to arrange a demonstration.
AVUs are available from 8 am until 5 pm beginning 18 days prior to each election. On Election Day, AVUs are available from 7 am until 8 pm.
If you would like transportation to our office and you do not use C-TRAN buses, please contact C-VAN at (360) 695-0123 or (TTY 360-695-9715).
How to vote using an AVU
When you arrive at the Elections Office to vote using an AVU, you will sign an application and present a form of identification. You will then receive a four-digit access code that you will enter into an AVU to access your ballot.
An AVU presents your ballot on a monitor. You select choices by touching the screen, by using a wheel, or by using a tool. You can use headphones to listen to the text. Machines can also be fitted with sip-and-puff tools. If you would prefer to use a sip-and-puff tool, please bring your tool with you when you come to the Elections Office.
AVUs are wheelchair-accessible and screened from other voters to maintain privacy.
