The Solid Waste System

Clark County manages the regional solid waste system in partnership with the cities of Battle Ground, Camas, La Center, Ridgefield, Vancouver, Washougal and the town of Yacolt.

The program contracts with private companies for recycling collection, sorting, processing and marketing, and garbage transfer and disposal services.

In our community

Outreach in our community is key to conserving resources and protecting the environment, which are the primary goals of the county's Solid Waste Program.

Green Neighbors, Green Business, and Green Schools, along with our Composter Recycler programs are the cornerstones of our outreach program.

Environmental Volunteer Opportunities

If you are interested in volunteering to help the environment, check out our volunteer opportunities or visit the links below to see current volunteer opportunities with Clark County and other local environmental organizations.

Volunteers are vital to help protect and enhance our natural environment. We frequently have opportunities to volunteer in variety of projects and programs.

Why volunteer?

You can help to:

  • Preserve and conserve natural resources.
  • Prevent pollution in the environment.
  • Spend time in nature.
  • Enhance work and life experiences.
  • Meet new people, build lasting relationships and have fun.

Can I volunteer?

Whether you are a student, adult, family or community group, we may have a volunteer opportunity that suits your interests and skills. Teenagers 14 to 17 must have parental permission to volunteer. Youth younger than 14 may be able to volunteer with family members.
