Clark County We Compost Community Hubs

The middle image is the We Compost logo, showcasing the words We Compost creatively displayed in soil with food waste along the top, creatively depicting the compost process. The right photo showcases someone emptying the contents of a kitchen scrap pail into a green We Compost cart with the label Food Waste Only.

Join your neighbors, keep food out of the landfill!

When food is sent to landfills, it creates methane gas—a major contributor to climate change. We are partnering with local organizations to ensure all residents have access to food waste composting.

We aim to reduce the amount of food going to the landfill through the We Compost Pilot Program.

We Compost Community Hub locations offer free and convenient food scrap disposal for all Clark County residents!

Community Hub information

We Compost Community Hub locations provide access to composting, especially for residents with limited ability to compost at home, such as those living in apartments and condos, and residents living outside of residential curbside Organics service areas

At the community hub locations, residents dispose of household food scraps in green waste carts. These carts are serviced weekly by Waste Connections of Washington. The food scraps are transported to the commercial compost facility Dirt Hugger, in Dallesport, WA. Learn more about Dirt Hugger. In just a few short months, food scraps are transformed into rich compost, returning valuable nutrients to the soil.
