Salmon Creek Regional Park/Klineline Pond

Salmon Creek Regional Park/Klineline Pond is a popular spot with a designated swim beach, a splash pad water play feature, fishing/observation platforms, picnic shelters and tables, and more.

The park also features 35 acres of developed parkland and 368 acres of undeveloped green space. It also includes the Salmon Creek Sports Association Complex, home of the Vancouver Girls Softball Association.

Parking fees

Clark County Parks charges parking fees year-round at Salmon Creek Regional Park/Klineline Pond. Daily parking fees are:

$2 for motorcycles
$3 for cars and trucks
$6 for cars and trucks with trailers
$8 for buses or motor homes

Under Clark County Code, parking a vehicle without paying the required daily fee or displaying a valid parking pass could result in a $40 fine.

Klineline Pond

Please observe the following rules when visiting Klineline Pond:

No pets, other than service animals, are allowed across the bridge into the main use area of the park.
No boats, canoes, kayaks, rafts or air mattresses are allowed on the pond.
No abusing docks, ropes, buoys and pilings.

Klineline Pond at Salmon Creek Regional Park will not have lifeguards this summer. As with water recreation in all county parks, visitors are responsible for ensuring their safety and the safety of minor children in their care. Safe Kids Clark County will be increasing the number of life jackets available to borrow at Klineline Pond.

To safely enjoy water recreation this summer, visitors should:

Wear a life jacket. Children, teens and adults should wear life jackets while boating, using personal watercraft, inner tubing or while using other water sports equipment. Life jackets should be worn while swimming in lakes and rivers. Make sure the life jacket fits properly. Inner tubes, air mattresses and other floatation devices are not a substitute for a well-fitting life jacket.
Closely supervise children. Children should be supervised by adults anytime they’re in or around water. Supervision requires complete attention, even if another adult is present. Avoid distractions when kids are swimming or around water.
Do not use any substance, including alcohol and cannabis, that could impair your ability to swim, respond to or be aware of your surroundings.
Never dive into shallow water or off bridges, cliffs or ledges.
Never swim alone.
Avoid fast-flowing waters.

Safe Kids Clark County provides life jackets for visitors to borrow at Klineline Pond (Salmon Creek Regional Park). Availability of life jackets to borrow at these locations cannot be guaranteed. Visitors who are planning to enter the water are encouraged to bring a life jacket with them.

The splash pad water-play feature at Klineline Pond will be open this summer. The opening date for the splash pad is weather dependent, but usually no later than June 15. Operating hours are typically 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The splash pad may close occasionally during the summer due to inclement weather or for maintenance. The closing date for the splash pad is weather dependent but typically around Labor Day.

Salmon Creek Greenway and Trail

This urban greenway runs along Salmon Creek between Lake River in Felida and Salmon Creek Regional Park/Klineline Pond in Hazel Dell. It includes bottomlands, wetlands and forested hillsides on both sides of Salmon Creek and the north end of Cougar Creek.

Despite the urban setting, the greenway is extensively used by wildlife, including migratory waterfowl and other birds, deer, coyotes, rabbits, opossums, raccoons and beavers.

A 3-mile-long paved trail extends through a portion of the greenway between Salmon Creek Regional Park/Klineline Pond and Northwest 36th Avenue in Felida. The trail is relatively flat, except for a slope up to Northwest 36th Avenue.

Besides the trailhead in Salmon Creek Regional Park, the trail also can be accessed at the parking lot near the Vancouver Girls Softball Association's fields (restrooms at this location) off of Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue. Access to Cougar Creek Trail is available near the mid-point of the Salmon Creek trail. Look for the stairs up the hill, past the picnic table.

Picnic shelters

Salmon Creek Regional Park has two reservable shelters. Each shelter seats 50 people and rents for $75 a day. The Pondview picnic shelter is currently unavailable for rental.

Other portions of the park may be available for weddings and other events with an approved special use permit. Air-inflated “bounce houses” are allowed with approved special use permits, but dunk tanks are not.
