Barbara Derry, 18, of Goldendale, Washington, had been staying in Vancouver and was known to regularly hitchhike. She had not been seen by her family for approximately a month when her body was discovered at the bottom of a wooden cistern near the Amboy Grist Mill. 
Her death was ruled a homicide caused by trauma to her chest. 
The case remains unsolved.
