On September 23, 1997, Michael Casteel, 49—also known as “Jesus Mike”—was found deceased in a back bedroom of his home in the 4100 block of NE 64th Avenue in the Vancouver area. Deputies had responded to a report of a disturbance involving a weapon and determined that a home-invasion robbery had occurred. 

Two unidentified suspects wearing ski masks were seen running from the residence before deputies arrived. Casteel’s young daughter was home at the time and witnessed the killing but was unable to identify the attackers. 

Investigators believe the homicide may have been drug related. The case remains unsolved.
