A message from the Clark County Sheriff
“We hire people of character, provide the tools and teach the skills.” ‒ Sheriff Chuck E. Atkins
The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is comprised of more than 400 people who deliver top-quality criminal justice services to 471,000 residents of southwest Washington. As a full service, 24/7 law enforcement agency, we offer many employment opportunities for commissioned law enforcement deputies, correctional facility deputies and civilian support workers.
Established in 1849, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office is the oldest law enforcement agency in Washington. We have been serving residents for nearly 170 years. Named for Capt. William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Corp of Discovery Expedition, the first expedition across what is now the western U.S., Clark County is now the fifth most populous county and second fastest growing county in the state. With a mix of rural and urban areas, Clark County lies on the north bank of the mighty Columbia River, just across from Portland, Ore. The schools are great. Recreational opportunities abound. The cost of living is lower than many other places. And the community is strong.
If you’re exploring career opportunities in the criminal justice field, I encourage you to consider the variety of positions available at the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
