The Klineline Pond area of Salmon Creek Regional Park, including the park entrance and parking lot, will be closed on Jan. 5. The closure will begin at 7 a.m. and last through at least noon. During the closure, there will be no access to/from the Klineline Pond area of the park or the parking lot at the Klineline Pond entrance. The closure is needed to safely move project supplies from the parking lot to the pond area, over Salmon Creek, via crane.
The closure is part of construction of a new picnic shelter at Klineline Pond. Irreparable damage to the former Pondview shelter from a winter storm required demolition of the structure, and a new structure will be built in its place. Construction of the new shelter should be complete by spring 2024. A previous announcement indicated that the park would remain open during transport of materials to the construction site. However, new assessments and measurements have indicated that a crane is required to move project materials to the work site. A full closure of the parking lot and pond area is necessary to protect workers and visitors while materials are being moved and heavy equipment is operating.
Updates to the construction timeline and impacts will be posted on Public Works’ social media profiles, and at clark.wa.gov/public-works.
