Picnic Shelter Reservations and Events

Want to host an event in a park? Reserving a picnic shelter ensures your exclusive use for your event!

Picnic shelters can be reserved for events taking place April 1 through Oct. 31 in five regional parks and six community parks.

When can I reserve a picnic shelter?
Picnic shelters can be reserved for events taking place April 1 through Oct. 31. The one exception is at Vancouver Lake Regional Park, where picnic shelters can be reserved from Memorial Day weekend through October 31. The ground at Vancouver Lake Regional Park tends to remain soggy until the end of May. All shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge, Nov. 1 through March 31.

Picnic shelters must be reserved at least seven days before the event date.

How do I reserve a picnic shelter?
You can reserve a picnic shelter online or over the phone. You will need to create an account to use the system. Frequently asked questions about online registration can be found at the bottom of the online reservations page. Once you are registered, click on the reservations button near the upper left corner of the screen to reserve picnic shelters. Phone reservations also can be made by calling 564.397.2285. Then press option #1 to reach the reservations desk for picnic shelter reservations and parking passes. If you are unable to connect with a live representative, please leave a voicemail.

How much does it cost to reserve a picnic shelter?
Reservation fees for picnic shelters vary depending on the size of the shelter. The revenue helps pay for parks maintenance and operations.

Picnic shelters not reserved will remain available for free on a first-come, first-served basis.

Do I need a permit for my event?
Depending on the type of event, you may need to get a park use permit from Clark County. Events like weddings and baptisms, public events like athletic competitions, charity events, car shows and concerts require a permit. A permit is also required if you're using amplified music, a loudspeaker or an inflatable bounce house. Call 564.397.2285 for information about park use permits. A picnic shelter reservation is not a park use permit.
