• Public Health

The Clark County Board of Health is accepting applications for a Public Health Advisory Council position representing the educational community. The term for the volunteer position begins as soon as it’s filled and ends Sept. 30, 2027. 


• Public Works

The county manager is seeking to fill three open positions on the Clean Water Commission, an advisory group representing the community’s needs and interests in stormwater management decisions. Two terms begin October 2024 and end December 2027. One term begins January 2025 and ends December 2027.


• Elections

Every election, the Clark County Auditor’s Office provides an online and printed voters’ guide with information about candidates and ballot measures for voters to make an informed decision when voting. The November voters’ guide includes local ballot measures with supporting and opposing statements written by citizens.


• Community Planning

Clark County is seeking community input to help plan for climate change. There are currently two surveys open for community members to provide feedback. These surveys are part of a series of activities throughout the year that will inform the county’s new climate chapter for its comprehensive plan.


• Community Planning

The Clark County Commission on Aging continues its “Prepare in a Year” discussion series. Last month you met your neighbors. This month, join us to learn about the communities where you live, work, and play. Experts from CRESA, Clark County’s regional emergency services agency, will discuss the topic and answer questions from the audience. 

The meeting will be 4:30 pm Wednesday, Aug. 21.

The board of the Clark County Public Facilities District will hold a public meeting 4-5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2024.


• Public Works

Clark County Public Works, Parks and Lands is installing partial fencing along the north, east, and south property lines of the Curtin Creek Community Park, 12603 Northeast 72nd Ave. The western boundary will be installed during park development in 2025.

Work is scheduled for the middle of August and is expected to be complete by the beginning of September. Visitors may encounter inconveniences such as short-duration traffic delays, temporarily closed sidewalks and construction noise. Visitors are reminded for their safety to stay out of work zones. 


• Public Health

Clark County’s second treatment of harmful algae at Vancouver Lake Regional Park is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 2, 2024.

AquaTechnex, a lake and aquatic plant management firm, will again apply an aquatic algaecide to the water at the Vancouver Lake swim beach. Boats will be used to apply the algaecide, which is designed to target and kill cells in harmful algae.

A former gravel mine, central to a $20 million habitat restoration project along the East Fork Lewis River, is now officially owned by Clark County. 

The Ridgefield Pits real estate transaction was finalized on July 27, 2024, following 5 years of negotiations and due diligence between Clark County and Cemex International. The acquisition of the 124.86-acre property cost $625,000.

The Clark County Climate Project Environmental Justice Coalition will meet at 3:30 pm on Monday, Aug. 5.
