The Clark County Council is seeking applicants for five (5) newly added seats on the Clark County Law and Justice Council.  

The Law and Justice Council is established by law to help coordinate activities of the local criminal justice agencies and develop a community corrections plan for local and state corrections services in the county.

The Clark County Council has reorganized and reenergized the Clark County Law and Justice Council to include the following representatives:


• Community Development

Vancouver, Wash. – Due to the extreme fire danger, recreational fires will be prohibited throughout unincorporated Clark County effective 12:01 am, Sunday, Aug. 13, 2023. 

This recreational fire restriction is in addition to the general outdoor burning prohibition that was implemented on July 1.

These types of fires are prohibited with this recreational fire ban until further notice:


• Public Works

UPDATE 8/28: due to extreme heat, the inspection of the bridge at the Gordy Jolma Family Natural Area will be rescheduled. The Aug. 28 inspections of the Highway 99 and I-5 railroad bridges will continue as scheduled. We will post here when we have confirmed a new inspection date for the rescheduled inspection. Original announcement continues below. 

Several bridges and a tunnel along the county's Chelatchie Prairie Railroad will be inspected the weeks of Aug. 14 and 28. Some of the inspections will result in traffic control on roads under the bridges. 


• Treasurer

The Clark County Finance Committee is scheduled to meet at 9:30 am Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023.

• Community Planning

The Clark County Commission on Aging is focusing the remainder of the year on community engagement for people 60 and older. Starting in August, the commission will host a three-part speaker series with the Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities of Southwest Washington (AAADSW). The series will explore ways they can help support an engaged and supportive community where individuals, businesses, and community groups understand best practices for engaging with older adults and where there is community-wide awareness of available aging resources.


• Public Works

This week, Clark County Public Works is launching a campaign about driving safely in roadway work zones. The campaign is part of a pilot project and will test several strategies to share work zone safety messages with drivers. 


• Public Works

Clark County Public Works, Parks and Lands division is beginning a forest health thinning project at Spud Mountain, a Legacy Lands property. Spud Mountain is located north of Washougal and east of Hockinson. Thinning operations are expected to begin in 2024. 


• Public Health

Clark County Public Health has lifted its advisory at Vancouver Lake. Water samples collected from the lake show water quality has improved over the last two weeks and toxin levels are no longer elevated.


• Public Works

The intersection of Northeast 99th Street and Northeast 107th Avenue will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, Aug. 14 for construction of a roundabout. The closure is expected to last 20 working days (through Sept. 2). Exact closure start and end dates are weather dependent. 

Signs and flaggers will direct traffic onto a detour. Drivers will be directed onto Northeast 105th Avenue on the east side and Northeast 110th Avenue on the west side of the closure. 


• Elections

Every election, the Clark County Auditor’s Office provides an online and printed voters’ guide with information about candidates and ballot measures for voters to make an informed decision when voting. The November General voters’ guide includes a local ballot measure with supporting and opposing statements written by citizens.
