Vancouver, Wash. – Beginning at 8:30 am Wednesday, Feb. 13, elections officials will perform a hand count of approximately 600 ballots randomly selected as part of a manual comparison against machine results.

The selected ballots will be counted in the total returns on Election Day. But for this comparison, the Vancouver School District levy measure on those ballots also will be counted by hand, to check the accuracy of the ballot tabulation equipment.

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is taking applications for two retail fireworks permits to be assigned by lottery on Thursday, Feb. 14.

Fireworks cannot be sold in Clark County without a permit.

Vancouver, Wash. – Public Works crews are out early this morning after a light layer of overnight snow blanketed Clark County.

Crews are spraying deicer and applying gravel where needed in unincorporated Clark County. Across most of the county, including urban areas near the city of Vancouver, there isn’t enough snow on roads to plow. Accumulations are slightly heavier in some locations, such as north Clark County at higher elevations.

Vancouver, Wash. – With overnight temperatures forecast to drop below freezing, Public Works will have crews out early Tuesday, Feb. 5, to ease what could be a difficult commute.
