Clark County Public Works, Parks and Lands invites the community to learn about the new play equipment coming this summer to Gaiser Middle School and Sifton neighborhood parks. The existing playground equipment at these parks will be replaced this summer. 

At the Park Play Date events, attendees can view images of the new playground equipment that will be installed. The events will also feature lawn games, activities and sweet treats. Parks staff will be in attendance to discuss the new playground equipment and other park projects.

Pursuant to RCW 42.30.030(2), which encourages public agencies to provide public access to meetings, this meeting can also be viewed via Teams or joined telephonically. 

Construction is beginning to convert the intersection of Northeast 119th Street and Northeast 152nd Avenue to a single-lane roundabout. Currently, traffic on Northeast 119th Street is controlled by traffic signals at the intersection with Northeast 152nd Avenue. The intersection has been the site of several severe crashes in the last 10 years, resulting in multiple serious injuries and two fatalities. Due to the number and severity of crashes, the intersection was identified as a high priority for reconstruction to minimize crash risk and severity.

Host a party, potluck or special event at a Clark County park. Picnic shelters at eleven county parks are available to reserve for dates between April 1 and Oct. 31. Many shelters have electricity and water. Some shelters have features like fireplaces and barbeques.

With warm weather in the forecast for this weekend, Clark County Public Health is reminding people to take caution in and around water – especially area lakes and rivers. In spring and early summer, lakes and rivers in Southwest Washington are still cold, and water may be moving quickly. 

“Temperatures may be warming up this weekend, but lakes and rivers are still cold enough to shock and immobilize even the strongest swimmers,” said Dr. Alan Melnick, Clark County health officer and Public Health director.

The county manager is seeking applicants with an interest in government and educational access television and cable television franchising to fill four positions on the volunteer city/county Telecommunications Commission. Applicants must be Clark County residents.

The terms are three years, and all of the positions begin immediately. Two of the positions will end March 31, 2026; one ends April 30, 2026; and one will end Aug. 31, 2026.

Group will recognize outgoing members at May meeting

The Clark County Commission on Aging continues the “Prepare in a Year” discussion series. This month’s topic is all about creating an emergency preparedness plan. Experts from CRESA, Clark County’s regional emergency services agency, will discuss the topic and answer questions from the audience. 

The meeting will be 4:30 pm Wednesday, May 15.

The Parks and Lands division of Clark County Public Works is beginning planning for improvements to the Klineline Pond area of Salmon Creek Regional Park. An important step in the planning process is to perform geotechnical surveying, which gathers data about the site’s physical characteristics. A tow-behind drilling rig will be used for the geotechnical surveys the week of May 6. Park visitors can expect some noise and minor ground vibrations near the survey sites. Visitors are reminded to not approach survey equipment or any closed areas.
