Vancouver, WA – The Board of County Councilors is seeking applicants to fill a volunteer position on the Solid Waste Advisory Commission.
The position represents the southwest area of the county. Applicants must live south of 179th Street and west of State Route 503, or Northeast 117th Avenue.
The three-year term begins Oct. 1.
The commission meets at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the Auto Licensing and Elections Office, 1408 Franklin St.

Vancouver, WA – Clark County Vegetation Management has moved to new offices on the first floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.
Vegetation Management is responsible, by state law, for controlling noxious weeds. The division consists of the Clark County Weed Board’s five members, appointed by the Board of County Councilors, and 11 county employees.
Vancouver, WA – The Board of County Councilors is accepting applications from local organizations for grants that encourage historic preservation and programs, including preservation of historic documents.
Applications for 2017 Historical Promotion Grants must be received by the Historic Preservation Commission by late September.
The commission will review applications in the fall and submit recommendations to the Board of County Councilors in November. Grants will be awarded in December and available in January 2017.

Vancouver, WA – Two more neighborhood parks will be built this summer to provide additional recreation within easy walking distance of nearby residents.
County Manager Mark McCauley this week awarded a $934,700 contract to Robertson & Olson Construction Inc. of Camas to build Sorenson Neighborhood Park in the Felida area and Tower Crest Neighborhood Park in the East Minnehaha area.
Construction is expected to begin in July and wrap up this fall, before the start of rainy weather.
