Clark County Public Works is improving the road surface of Northwest 78th Street between Northwest Lakeshore Avenue and Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue. Crosswalk signals and ADA sidewalk ramps will also be improved as part of the project. Temporary lane closures on Northwest 78th Street begin in mid-March for the next phase of construction. Lane closures will be marked with traffic cones and flaggers, who will direct traffic and pedestrians. Travelers along Northwest 78th Street may experience delays of up to 20 minutes. 

Clark County Public Works is seeking applicants for an open volunteer park host position at Lucia Falls Regional Park. Volunteer park hosts live at their assigned park and assist with creating a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors. Host duties include (but are not limited to): 

The Clark County Council this week appointed Vancouver resident Kyle Fadness to the county’s volunteer Planning Commission.

Fadness will serve a six-year term that begins immediately and ends Dec. 31, 2030. 

Fadness is a licensed engineer in the state of Washington. He has worked in several engineering positions and currently works as a project engineer for the Port of Longview.

Fadness earned a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from Montana Technological University.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County Treasurer Alishia Topper is reminding property owners that the first installment of 2025 property taxes is due by Tuesday, April 30, 2025.

Tax statements are being mailed starting today, Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025. Residents who do not receive their statement in the coming days, or have questions regarding their bill, are encouraged to visit the Treasurer’s website at www.clark.wa.gov/treasurer or call the office at 564.397.2252 to request a duplicate statement.

Clark County Superior Court is pleased to introduce a new and improved juror experience for local citizens with the replacement of the current jury summonsing software. The county began using its current jury management software in the early 2000’s. After nearly 20 years of solid reliability with the current software, inefficiencies and outdated forms of communication have contributed to overall lower response and appearance rates.

The Parks and Nature division of Clark County Public Works is excited to announce new play equipment at Gaiser Middle School Neighborhood Park and Sifton Neighborhood Park. Last summer, the existing play equipment was removed. A contractor installed new playground equipment and fall-safe ground surfaces. The new play equipment is made from weather-resistant materials to promote long-term durability and stability. This playground replacement enhances safety and accessibility for park visitors.

Clark County Public Health’s Solid Waste & Recycling team encourages residents to celebrate National Battery Day on Feb. 18 by recycling their used batteries at one of several safe, convenient drop-off locations across the county. 

The Commission on Aging’s charge is to provide leadership in addressing the special needs of the aging population and to manage and assist with the implementation of the county’s Aging Readiness Plan.  This month, the Commission focuses on Chapter 2 of the Aging Readiness Plan, “Healthy Communities, Improving Access to Healthy Food” by hosting area experts for a discussion about local gardening and food programs.
