Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County will host the Green Gala celebration on Thursday, Feb. 22, at Kiggins Theatre, 1011 Main St. This free event is open to any business or individual interested in environmental sustainability.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 6 p.m.

The event will feature a presentation by Waste Not Food Taxi, a nonprofit that redistributes unwanted commercial leftovers to people in need.

Five awards will be presented to businesses and community members for their leadership in sustainability. The categories are:


• County

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council agreed Wednesday to restart a national search for a new county manager.

In lengthy discussions over two days, the councilors determined that while each of the two finalists had strengths, neither had the specific combination of skills and qualities they were seeking.

The council has directed Strategic Government Resources, the Texas-based executive search firm that conducted the fall 2017 recruitment, to immediately restart a national search.


• Treasurer

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Treasurer is holding an auction for one unsold foreclosure property on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018. All bidding must be done online at the Clark County Treasurer's auction page at www.bid4assets.com/ClarkWA.

The auction will begin at 8 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. Please check the auction listing details for the closing time, Treasurer Doug Lasher said.

A $2,500 deposit, plus a $35 processing fee, must be received by Bid4Assets in order participate in the Thursday sale.


• Community Development

Vancouver, Wash. – The Permit Center on the first floor of the Public Service Center has adjusted its business hours to better meet the needs of customers.

Marty Snell, director of Community Development, said staff added a day for walk-in customers to help meet the demand of those seeking building and other permits.

The Permit Center now is open to all customers 8 am-3 pm, Monday through Friday.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County’s Green Business program will hold a free Morning Blend networking event 8-9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Columbia Bank’s Community Room, 101 E. Sixth St.

Morning Blend is an opportunity to network, discuss green business efforts at your workplace, and learn about solutions for reducing our impact on the environment.

The event will feature a presentation about ResourceFULL Use, an organization that builds connections between businesses so they can exchange and reuse materials.

Vancouver, Wash. - The Clark County Council is seeking applicants for two seats on the Clark County Historic Preservation Commission.

The seven-member commission is responsible for:

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council is seeking applicants to fill a position on the Clark County Board of Equalization.

The three-year position runs from July 15, 2018 to July 14, 2021.


• Community Planning

Vancouver, Wash. - The Clark County Commission on Aging is focusing this year on transportation, especially for people 60 and older. Transportation allows residents of all ages and abilities to connect with others and maintain independence. It is a hallmark of a livable community.

The year-long focus will educate and raise awareness about future transportation and mobility challenges and solutions that could help Clark County’s older residents age in their homes and neighborhoods for as long as possible. 


• Treasurer

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Treasurer’s Office has a new property tax payment mailing address.

As of Feb. 1, 2018, people who pay their property taxes by mail should send payments to Clark County Treasurer, Caller Box 35150, Seattle, WA 98124-5150.

In person payments still can be made in the second floor joint lobby of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., and online payment also is an option. For details, visit the Treasurer’s website at www.clark.wa.gov/treasurer

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council urges county residents to complete an online survey about the possibility of Oregon applying a toll on Interstate 5 and Interstate 205 to ease congestion in the Portland area.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is conducting the Portland Area Value Pricing Feasibility Analysis and hosting an online open house through Monday, Feb. 5.
