Vancouver, WA -- Clark County will hold a public hearing to consider a revised rural zoning map before completing a final environmental impact statement to assess the county’s “preferred alternative” for the next growth plan.

On Nov. 24, the Board of County Councilors adopted a “preferred alternative,” which incorporated components of Alternatives 1, 2, 3 and 4.

County planners are recommending that the Nov. 24 zoning map be revised to correct errors and omissions and more accurately reflect the intent of the “preferred alternative” in rural areas.

The last day for submitting a mail-in voter registration form for the Feb. 9, 2016, Special Election is Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.  Mail-in voter registration forms must be postmarked by Jan. 11.

Voters in Ridgefield School District, La Center School District, Evergreen School District, Vancouver School District, Hockinson School District, Green Mountain School District, and Camas School District will receive ballots for this election.

Vancouver, WA – The Board of County Councilors is setting up two task forces to examine prospects for toll-free bridges across the Columbia River over the next six months.

“These teams will focus on new bi-state bridges to solve the chronic failing level of service plaguing the local I-5 and I-205 corridors,” said Board Chair David Madore. “The new bridges are needed to solve the crippling congestion problem that stifles interstate commerce.”

Vancouver, WA – The joint lobby on the second floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St., providing treasurer, assessor and auditor services will be closing to the public at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24. Marriage license applications will not be accepted after 12:30 p.m.

The Elections and Auto License offices at 1408 Franklin St. will also close at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24.

Vancouver, WA – In just a couple short weeks, thousands of Clark County residents will be looking to dispose of Christmas trees.

Waste Connections, Inc. will pick up trees during its regular garbage service or yard debris collection. Trees taller than 5 feet must be cut into sections no longer than 5 feet, regardless of whether they will be collected with yard debris or garbage.

Yard debris customers may put smaller trees in their carts. They also may place half of a larger tree next to the cart for no additional charge. 

Vancouver, WA – Clark County residents will have an opportunity next month to safely dispose of a variety of holiday wastes at the 2016 Green Neighbors Holiday Cleanup.

The event will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Evergreen Public Schools’ Cascade Middle School, 13900 N.E. 18th St.

Vancouver, WA – Superior Court Judge James E. Rulli will swear in Marc Boldt as County Council Chair and Julie Olson as County Councilor for District 2 at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29. The ceremony will take place in the sixth-floor hearing room in the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. It is open to the public.

The new councilors were elected last month and will be seated on the board beginning in January. Both will serve three-year terms.

VANCOUVER, WA - The 38th edition of the Clark County Road Atlas is now in stock and may be purchased at the GIS Map Store, Suite 232, on the second floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. The price, including tax, is $22.00.

The Morning Blend is an opportunity to network and discuss green business efforts in a relaxed setting.
