Vancouver, WA – Clark County residents will have an opportunity next month to safely dispose of a variety of holiday wastes at the 2016 Green Neighbors Holiday Cleanup.

The event will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Evergreen Public Schools’ Cascade Middle School, 13900 N.E. 18th St.

Vancouver, WA – Superior Court Judge James E. Rulli will swear in Marc Boldt as County Council Chair and Julie Olson as County Councilor for District 2 at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 29. The ceremony will take place in the sixth-floor hearing room in the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. It is open to the public.

The new councilors were elected last month and will be seated on the board beginning in January. Both will serve three-year terms.

VANCOUVER, WA - The 38th edition of the Clark County Road Atlas is now in stock and may be purchased at the GIS Map Store, Suite 232, on the second floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. The price, including tax, is $22.00.

Drivers urged to avoid non-essential travel and obey closure signs

Vancouver, WA – Clark County’s Green Business Program will host a Morning Blend networking event at 8- 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at The Heathman Lodge, 7801 N.E. Greenwood Drive.

The Morning Blend is an opportunity to network and discuss green business efforts in a relaxed setting.

“We’re excited The Heathman Lodge is hosting this month’s event,” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director. “It’s a great place to get together during the holidays and hear what other green businesses are doing.”

Vancouver, WA – Acting County Manager Mark McCauley will present his first annual report to the Board of County Councilors at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, on the sixth-floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

The county charter requires the county manager to make an “annual statement of fiscal and governmental affairs.”

Voters approved the charter in 2013. McCauley was named acting county manager at the end of 2014, after serving as county administrator since September 2013.

Vancouver, WA ‒ Clark County Public Health received a two-year, $100,000 grant from the United Stated Department of Agriculture’s Farm to School Program to pay for a project to connect Vancouver Public Schools students with more regionally sourced food and food system education. The grant takes effect Dec. 1.

Vancouver, WA ̶ Clark County is better prepared to care for small pets in an emergency thanks to a pet disaster relief trailer donated by local kennel clubs and a grant from a national American Kennel Club program.

The 16-foot-long, 7-foot-high trailer will be unveiled at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, during the Greater Clark County Kennel Club’s dog show at the Clark County Event Center, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield.

Vancouver, WA – The Clark County Children’s Sharing Project has served local children and families since 1985. Volunteers will continue the gift-giving tradition by shopping for hundreds of children staring at 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, and they are asking for the community’s help.

On Monday, December 14, 2015, the Clark County Elections Department will begin taking candidate filings for the positions of commissioner for Drainage District No. 2, Drainage Improvement District No. 5 and Diking Improvement District No. 14. The filing period will begin at 8 am on Monday, December 14, and will end at 5 pm on Friday, December 18.
