Roads
Many roads are covered in packed snow and ice this morning. Crews are sanding hills and curves to provide traction for drivers. Road conditions are slick throughout the county. Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads and only travel if absolutely necessary. Drivers are urged to be prepared for travel to take much longer than usual, carry an emergency kit, water and warm clothes.

Join Clark County Green Neighbors in pledging to reduce waste in the annual WasteBusters Challenge. The free 21-day challenge begins Wednesday, March 1.
Access to trails and recreation facilities at three county regional parks will be restricted this month to allow for bridge inspections. Bridge inspections require one-day closures.
Clark County is seeking applicants for four positions on its Commission on Aging. The commission manages and implements the county’s Aging Readiness Plan and fosters countywide awareness, dialogue and insight into challenges and opportunities for residents of all ages, incomes and abilities.
Positions begin June 1, 2023. Volunteers typically serve three-year terms through May 31, 2026. One of the vacancies will complete an outgoing member’s term through May 31, 2024. Residents living anywhere in Clark County may apply.

Clark County Public Health is teaming up with Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries for a free educational series highlighting environmentally friendly lifestyles.
The Clark County Council yesterday appointed Karl Johnson and Jack Harroun to the county’s volunteer Planning Commission. Both will serve four-year terms that begin immediately and end Dec. 31, 2026.
Johnson, a LaCenter resident, currently serves on the Planning Commission. Johnson is a former educator for Battle Ground School District and has managed and owned various construction companies.
Beginning at 9 am Wednesday, Feb. 15, elections officials will perform a hand count of approximately 600 ballots randomly selected as part of a manual comparison against machine results.
For this comparison, the City of Vancouver measure will be counted by hand, to check the accuracy of the ballot tabulation equipment. The selected ballots will be counted in the total returns on Election Day.

County Manager Kathleen Otto is seeking applicants to fill five vacancies on the Clark County Development and Engineering Advisory Board.
The three-year terms for all five openings will run April 1, 2023, through Mach 31, 2026.

The City/County Telecommunications Commission will conduct its biennial public review of Comcast Cable’s performance at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, in Vancouver City Council Chambers, 415 W. 6th St. Options for viewing and/or participating remotely will also be accommodated.
