Vancouver, WA – County Manager Mark McCauley is seeking applicants for an opening on the Clean Water Commission.
The term runs from January 2017 through December 2019.
The nine-member volunteer commission is an advisory group that makes recommendations to the Board of County Councilors about services, policies and financing needed to meet federal and state requirements for water quality, including stormwater management.
Vancouver, WA ‒ The Board of County Councilors has canceled a work session scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the sixth-floor training room of the Public Service Center.
The work session was to focus on the city of Vancouver’s proposed annexation of the commercial and residential area north of Vancouver Mall. The proposed annexation area includes all of the Green Meadows neighborhood and portions of the East Minnehaha, Sunnyside and Andresen/St. Johns neighborhoods.

Vancouver, WA – The number of seniors who will need public housing is growing, as are the costs to provide it. Nationwide, public housing authorities are working to meet the needs of seniors so they can age in public housing safely, independently and comfortably.

Vancouver, WA – On Saturday, the Clark County Fire Marshal will lift a burning ban for all land clearing fires. A ban on recreational fires was lifted earlier this month.
The risk of wildfires has significantly declined because of recent rainfall, the forecast for more rain and cooler temperatures. A regional ban typically is in place from July 15 to Oct. 1.
On Tuesday, Oct. 4, beginning at 2 p.m., the Clark County Elections Office will conduct a logic and accuracy test of the programming to be used to tabulate ballots and the accessible voting units for the Nov. 8, 2016 General Election. The test will be held at the Clark County Elections Office, 1408 Franklin Street, Vancouver. Ballots will be mailed on Oct. 19. Members of the news media, candidates and the public are invited to attend this test, which is a requirement of Washington State law.
For this election, all registered voters in Clark County will receive a ballot.
More than 90 pounds of tobacco product waste collected during past five annual events
Vancouver, WA – Volunteers will gather Saturday, Oct. 22, for the sixth annual The Butt Stops Here cleanup to remove cigarette butts and other litter from parks.
Volunteer programs for Clark County and the city of Vancouver are coordinating the cleanup, which will be held in conjunction with Make a Difference Day.
The last day for submitting a mail-in voter registration form for the Nov. 8, 2016 General Election is Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016. All post offices will be closed on Monday, Oct. 10 for Columbus Day, so be sure to have them postmarked by Oct. 11.

The ceremony will be 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. It is sponsored by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Victim Assistance Unit.
Sheriff Chuck Atkins will be the keynote speaker.
