Doug Lasher, Clark County Treasurer, announced that the annual Property Tax Foreclosure Auction will again be held online via an Internet-based foreclosure auction provider called “bid4assets” at http://www.bid4assets.com/storefront/index.cfm?sfID=823. It is strongly recommended that bidders do their due diligence in researching properties that are for sale.

Vancouver, WA – Clark County planners will meet with the Board of County Commissioners in a work session at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 24 to discuss the potential scope of an environmental analysis on alternatives for updating the Comprehensive Growth Management Plan. The work session will be open to the public on the sixth floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. The county is considering options that include: • No change from the current plan adopted in 2007. • Changing some land uses currently planned in existing urban growth areas.

Vancouver, WA – Clark County is holding four open houses about planning for development and studying potential impacts as the next step in updating the local Comprehensive Growth Management Plan. All open houses are 7–8:30 p.m.:

Vancouver, WA – County staff will ask the Board of County Commissioners to move forward with an ongoing update of the Comprehensive Growth Management Plan in a public hearing set for 10 a.m. June 24. The Board will meet at the Public Service Center, Sixth-Floor Hearing Room, 1300 Franklin St. Commissioners will consider how to divide projected population increases and planned employment increases among local cities and unincorporated areas. If approved, staff will use the allocations to plan for new homes and jobs over the next 20 years.

Special Meeting: The County Council will hold a Equestrian Facilities Public Forum on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 6 p.m.

Clark County Jail Services on Monday, Oct. 28, erroneously released an inmate who was supposed to be transported back to the state of Oregon to serve his remaining time in that state. The inmate was released after time served on his Clark County case for Theft II which was adjudicated before Superior Court Judge David Gregerson.

The inmate, Maurice Xavier Haynes is still at large, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued. Local law enforcement agencies including Oregon State Department of Corrections have been notified. 

Vancouver, WA – The Clark County Auditor’s Office is sponsoring a campaign workshop, “Winning Ways to Run for Office – A Candidate / Campaign Workshop.’’

The free workshop takes place on Monday, May 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Clark County Elections Office, 1408 Franklin, Room 226, Vancouver, WA.

A panel of experts will describe what it takes to carry out an effective campaign in Clark County. Speakers will also offer helpful advice regarding political sign regulations, campaign finance, and resources available at the Elections Office.

The Clark County Assessor’s office property tax exemption specialists will be available to answer questions and enroll property owners in the county’s property tax relief program at an upcoming Washougal event.

The Tax Exemption Program for senior citizens and people with disabilities can reduce property tax liability for qualifying homeowners. Eligibility is based on age or disability, home ownership, residency, and income. Participants are not required to repay the taxes, and their homes are not subject to property liens. 

Vancouver, WA ‒ While processing thousands of ballots submitted for the Nov. 8 general election, the Clark County Elections Office discovered an error on an extremely small number of ballots that were printed from the county’s website, marked and returned.

The error was confined to one race and one precinct. The outcome of the race will not be affected by the nine ballots with the error.

Auditor Greg Kimsey regrets the error. Both candidates have been notified of the mistake.

Vancouver, Wash. – Drivers attempting to exit northbound I-205 at the Northeast 134th Street off-ramp will need to take an alternate exit tonight--Monday, June 14 beginning at 9 p.m.

Crews with Clark County Public Works’ contractor, Granite Construction of Vancouver, Wash., will place an asphalt overlay called hot-mix asphalt, or HMA, on the pavement on Northeast 134th Street.
