Clark County Treasurer Alishia Topper is providing second installment 2020 property tax statements next week and notifying property owners taxes will be due on Monday, Nov. 2.
Typically, the second installment of property taxes are due Oct. 31. However, because the statutory due date falls over the weekend, payments will be considered timely if postmarked by Nov. 2, 2020.
The county manager is seeking applicants with an interest in government and educational access television and cable television franchising to fill a position on the volunteer city/county Telecommunications Commission.
The position is for an unexpired three-year term that ends April 30, 2023. Applicants must be Clark County residents.
Due to the extreme fire danger, effective immediately, recreational fires will be prohibited throughout unincorporated Clark County.
This recreational fire restriction is in addition to the general outdoor burning prohibition that was implemented on July 15. According to Interim Fire Marshal Dan Young this is a preventive measure to reduce the risk of grass or brush fires as a result of escaped campfires.
The ban also includes lands protected by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.
Vancouver, Wash. – Regular drivers along the Highway 99 corridor can expect continued nighttime lane closures as paving approaches the intersection with Northeast 134th Street.
On Tuesday, Sept. 8, crews will close the through lane from the Interstate 205 southbound off-ramp to Highway 99 at Northeast 134th Street from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. A detour will be in place to direct traffic around the lane closure. This work is weather dependent and could be delayed.
Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County is accepting applications to fill three vacancies on a seven-member Parks Advisory Board for terms that begin Jan. 1, 2021.
Board members serve three-year terms. Upon expiration of a term, a member can apply again. There is no limit on how many terms a member can serve. The Parks Advisory Board advises the Clark County Council and county staff on parks planning, acquisition, development and related issues. Applicants must be residents of Clark County.
Vancouver, Wash. – Regular drivers along Northeast 72nd Avenue should prepare for a full closure of Northeast 72nd Avenue beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8. The roadway will be closed to allow crews with Clark County Public Works’ contractor to perform emergency repair on a section of failing storm pipe under the road. The closure and associated work are expected to take three to four weeks and is weather dependent, which could extend the closure.
Clark County Public Health is urging people to wear face coverings and practice physical distancing during the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend.
Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board is seeking nominations of businesses and individuals for its annual Clark County Disability Employment Awareness Month Awards. The awards honor the role people with developmental disabilities have in assisting us to achieve a dynamic, productive workforce and recognize the leadership of the business community. The event also celebrates October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
Awards will be given for the following categories:
Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Elections Office has added eight ballot drop boxes for the upcoming Nov. 3 general election. The county now has 20 ballot drop boxes available to voters 24-hours a day beginning Oct. 16.
“These additional drop boxes provide more options for voters to deliver their ballots,” said Auditor Greg Kimsey.
Vancouver, Wash. – A Portland woman has confessed to abandoning her dog at a Clark County park on the night of Aug. 6, according to Clark County Animal Protection and Control. Nearby residents caught the act on their security camera and held onto the Labrador Retriever until help arrived.
