Vancouver, Wash. – This Earth Day, Clark County Green Business is celebrating five new businesses joining the sustainability program this year.

The Green Business program offers resources and onsite assistance to help businesses operate efficiently, reduce environmental impact and offer employees healthy workplaces. The program, coordinated by Clark County Public Health, recognizes and celebrates these achievements with Green Business certification.

Currently, 87 businesses are certified with the program, which launched in 2012.

Vancouver, Wash. – Earlier this month, Clark County Fire Marshal Jon Dunaway and four other County Fire Marshals from southwest Washington met with officials from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources to discuss the outlook for the upcoming wildfire season. 

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council is seeking applicants for a volunteer position on the Solid Waste Advisory Commission.

The position represents southwest Clark County. Applicants must live west of State Route 503/Northeast 117th Avenue, or the extension thereof, and south of Northeast 179th Street. This includes those living in areas of Salmon Creek, Felida, Lake Shore, Hazel Dell, Fairgrounds, Minnehaha, Walnut Grove, Five Corners, Pleasant Valley and west Vancouver.

The three-year term will begin June 1 and end May 31, 2022.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County Public Health has been awarded a five-year, $300,000 grant to implement strategies to improve physical activity and nutrition among adults and children.

Vancouver, Wash. – Beginning at 8:30 am Wednesday, April 24, elections officials will perform a hand count of approximately 600 ballots randomly selected as part of a manual comparison against machine results.

The selected ballots will be counted in the total returns on Election Day. But for this comparison, the Ridgefield  School District levy measure on those ballots also will be counted by hand, to check the accuracy of the ballot tabulation equipment.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County’s Historic Preservation Commission has listed the Parkersville Landing Site to the Clark County Heritage Register. The site is located off State Route 14 on the Columbia River in Washougal adjacent to the Camas-Washougal Port Authority at 24 South A St.

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Drug Court will mark its 20-year anniversary at an upcoming celebration. The event will be noon-1:15 pm Thursday, May 2, in the sixth-floor hearing room in the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

The event is free and open to the public.

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council is seeking nominations and applications to fill a vacant position on the three-member board that oversees Drainage Improvement District No. 5.

The district includes the western Hockinson area bounded generally by Northeast 132nd Avenue on the west, Northeast 99th Street on the south, Northeast 182nd Avenue on the east and Northeast 159th Street on the north.

Applicants must be property owners within the drainage improvement district and registered voters in the state of Washington.

Vancouver, Wash. – Ballots are in the mail to all registered voters in the Hockinson, Mount Pleasant and Ridgefield School Districts for the upcoming April 23 special election.

If a voter does not receive a ballot by Thursday, April 11, please contact the Elections Office at (564) 397-2345 to request a replacement ballot. Replacement ballots may also be requested by mail, email, or in person at the Elections Office, 1408 Franklin St. Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

April 10 open house to reveal results of eight-week resident survey

Vancouver, Wash. – Community members are encouraged to help Clark County shape the future of the 78th Street Heritage Farm in Hazel Dell.

An open house has been scheduled for 6-8 pm Wednesday, April 10, in the sixth-floor hearing room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St. County residents will have an opportunity to review and discuss draft recommendations for the Heritage Farm’s master plan update.
