• Assessor

The Clark County Assessor’s office property tax exemption specialists will be available to answer questions and enroll property owners in the county’s property tax relief program at an upcoming public event. 

The Tax Exemption Program for senior citizens and people with disabilities can reduce property tax liability for qualifying homeowners. Eligibility is based on age or disability, home ownership, residency, and income. Participants are not required to repay the taxes, and their homes are not subject to property liens. 


• Community Planning

The Commission on Aging will hold a joint meeting with the Clark County Council on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 4:30 p.m. At the meeting the Commission will present its annual report which highlights accomplishments from 2023.


• Public Health

Clark County Public Health has learned from residents and community partners that pregnant people with Apple Health (Medicaid) insurance may be struggling to find prenatal care in Clark County. Prenatal care improves the chances of a healthy pregnancy.

All pregnant people deserve prenatal care. Receiving prenatal care early and throughout pregnancy can prevent and reduce the risk of complications for both the birthing parent and the baby. Health care providers can identify and treat problems early when they see the pregnant person regularly.


• Public Health

Clark County Green Neighbors is accepting applications for host gardens in the 2024 Natural Garden Tour. The annual tour features gardens across the county that are maintained using earth-friendly techniques.

Clark County residents with urban and rural gardens of all sizes can apply to have their property included in the tour, which offers free self-guided tours to the community. Properties considered for the tour must be maintained without the use of synthetic chemicals.


• Treasurer

The Clark County Finance Committee is scheduled to be held on the second floor of the Public Service Center, Room 243 at 9:30 am Thursday, Feb.15, 2024.

• Auditor

The Clark County Auditor’s Auto License Office in downtown Vancouver is updating its hours of operation. 

Effective Tuesday, Feb. 6, the hours for walk-in services will be 1 to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Phone services will be available 9 am to noon and 1 to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. The office is located at 1408 Franklin St.


• Community Planning

The Clark County Council today appointed Mark Bergthold, Jeremy Baker and Bryan Halbert to the county’s volunteer Planning Commission.  

Bergthold and Halbert will serve six-year terms that begin immediately and end Dec. 31, 2029. Baker will fill an unexpired term that begins immediately and ends Dec. 31, 2025.


• Elections

Beginning at 10 am Wednesday, Feb. 14., elections officials will perform a hand count of approximately 600 ballots randomly selected as part of a manual comparison against machine results. 

For this comparison, Battle Ground School District’s proposition will be counted by hand, to check the accuracy of the ballot tabulation equipment. The selected ballots will be counted in the total returns on Election Day. 


• Public Works

For the safety of park visitors, Clark County Public Works, Parks and Lands division, is closing areas of Daybreak Regional Park. The riverbank of the East Fork Lewis River at Daybreak Regional Park has experienced significant erosion and loss of bank-stabilizing trees. Fencing is being installed around the closed area, and signage will alert visitors to the closure. Visitors are reminded to never enter areas closed off by barricades, signs, cones, tape, fencing or other barriers, for their safety.

Clark County Public Works is seeking applicants for open volunteer park host positions at Haapa Boat Launch and Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park, and an upcoming position at Lucia Falls Regional Park. Volunteer park hosts live at their assigned park and assist with creating a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors. Host duties include (but are not limited to):
