Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Elections Office has announced that the 99th Street Transit Center and Vancouver Mall 24-hour drive-up ballot deposit locations will be open for the April 24 special election. 

The Vancouver Mall ballot drop box is located southwest of Sears near the C-Tran Vine Station. The 99th Street Transit Center drop box is located at 9700 NE 7th Ave., between 94th and 99th streets.

In addition to these two deposit locations, 24-hour ballot drop boxes also are available at:


• Public Health

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County’s Green Business program will hold a free Morning Blend networking event 8-9 am Thursday, April 19, at The Mighty Bowl, 108 W Eighth St.

Morning Blend is an opportunity to network, discuss green business efforts at your workplace, and learn about solutions for reducing our impact on the environment.

The event will feature a presentation by The Mighty Bowl, a restaurant offering wholesome and healthy food in downtown Vancouver.


• County Manager

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council will hold a public hearing on the 2018 spring supplemental at 10 am Tuesday, April 24, to consider adopting proposed amendments to the 2017-2018 budget.

The council adopted the biennial budget in December 2016; it went into effect Jan. 1, 2017.

The 2017-2018 adopted budget is $946.9 million, $323.2 million of which is the General Fund. It is the county’s largest fund and includes all discretionary revenue. The county’s second-largest fund is the $161.3 million Road Fund.


• Elections

Vancouver, Wash. - Ballots are in the mail to all registered voters for the upcoming April 24 special election. For this election, ballots are being mailed only to voters in Battle Ground School District.

If a voter does not receive a ballot by Thursday, April 12, please contact the Elections Office at 360.397.2345 to request a replacement ballot. Replacement ballots also can be requested by email, mail or in person at the Elections Office, 1408 Franklin St. Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday.


• Public Works

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County Public Works will host an open house later this month on a future project to improve safety on Northeast Manley Road, with construction scheduled to start in spring 2019.

The open house will be 4-7 pm Tuesday, April 17, in the commons area at Daybreak Primary and Middle Schools, 1900 NW 20th Ave., Battle Ground. Residents can stop by any time during the event to meet the project team, learn more about the upcoming construction and ask questions.


• Community Planning

Vancouver, Wash. – The ability to travel whenever we want is a freedom that most of us enjoy. When driving is no longer an option, older adults need an alternative way to get around, maintain their independence and continue their daily routines. Public transit is one of those alternatives.


• Community Services

Vancouver, Wash. – Beginning next month, West Van for Youth will offer a free, five-week parenting course for parents who live in the western half of Vancouver.

The Guiding Good Choices classes are for parents and other caregivers of children ages 9-14 in three zip codes: 98660, 98661 and 98663.

Classes will be 5:30-8 pm Thursdays, beginning April 12 and ending May 10,  at Trinity Lutheran Church, 309 W 39th St. Meals and child care will be provided.


• Clark County Council

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County today filed a lawsuit in federal court against pharmaceutical manufacturers and wholesalers that manufacture, distribute, and sell prescription opioids.

With the filing, Clark County joins more than 400 jurisdictions nationwide that seek to hold the companies accountable for harm opioid addiction has done in their communities and recover public costs.
