Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County is accepting applications to fill two positions on the Clark County Arts Commission.

One position is for a member of the business community. The other position is for a commission member at large.

Both terms are four years in length. The commission meets at 5:30 pm the third Tuesday of the month on the sixth floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County Manager Shawn Henessee has named Ahmad Qayoumi director of the county’s Public Works department, effective immediately.

Qayoumi last month was hired as Public Works deputy director. He has served as interim Public Works director since Sept. 12, after former Director Heath Henderson accepted a job with Clark Regional Wastewater District.

Vancouver, Wash. – Residents will have a chance next week to offer their thoughts before Clark County considers changing or setting speed limits on eight sections of county roadway.

The Clark County Council reviewed speed limit recommendations during a work session today. A public hearing has been scheduled for 10 am Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the sixth-floor Hearing Room of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

Vancouver, Wash. – Finding effective ways to meet the transportation needs of the increasing numbers of older residents will be critical for our local governments. Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County Community Services is seeking applications for anti-poverty programs that help people reach self-sufficiency and programs providing Homeless Crisis Response System services.

Doug Lasher, Clark County Treasurer, stated that second-installment 2018 property taxes are due on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018. “If you have not received your 2018 second-installment tax statement or have lost it, you can visit our website at www.clark.wa.gov/treasurer or contact the Treasurer’s Office at 564.397.2252 for a duplicate statement.”

The Treasurer’s Office is located on the second floor of the Public Service Center at 1300 Franklin St. one block north of the Clark County Courthouse. Office hours are Monday – Friday, 9 am to 4:30 pm.

Vancouver, Wash. – Clark County Fire Marshal Jon Dunaway will lift a burning ban for all land clearing fires on Monday, Oct. 1. 

The risk of wildfires being caused by an escaped land clearing fire has significantly declined because of recent rainfall and the forecast for more rain and cooler temperatures. A regional ban typically is in place from July 15 to Oct. 1.

Vancouver, Wash. ‒ Clark County is accepting applications for two open positions on the volunteer Animal Protection and Control Advisory Board.

One position is for a member at large who resides in Clark County. The second position is for a licensed veterinarian who practices in Clark County.

The term begins immediately and ends Oct. 31, 2022.

Advisory board members meet quarterly at 6:30 pm on the fourth Thursday of the month at Clark Regional Wastewater District Headquarters, 8000 NE 52nd Court.

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council is seeking a person with interest or expertise in early childhood education and services for young children to serve on the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board.

The three-year term begins immediately.

The advisory board makes recommendations to the county council relating to developmental disabilities services and issues.  Members provide leadership to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of community programs.

Vancouver, Wash. ‒ Clark County citizens have until Monday, Oct. 8, to submit a mail-in voter registration form to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 6 general and special election.
