Construction of an inclusive playground and new overflow parking lot at Felida Community Park will begin Monday, April 25.

The existing overflow gravel parking lot, located just west of the park’s main entrance, will be upgraded during the first phase of construction. A Children’s Celebration Garden Playground, designed for use and enjoyment by people of all abilities will be constructed during the second phase of the project.

Clark County awarded the construction contract to NW Construction General Contracting of Battle Ground. The project is funded by park impact fees.

The intersection of Northeast 149th Street and Northeast 10th Avenue in the Salmon Creek area of Clark County will close April 25 as contractors for Clark County Public Works begin construction of several roadway improvements.

Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Council earlier this month approved an interlocal agreement with Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) allowing DNR to establish a forward operating base for helicopter operations at Camp Bonneville to support wildfire suppression efforts.

The agreement allows DNR space at Camp Bonneville for one helicopter, a fuel truck and building space for seven crew members. DNR’s helicopter operations at Camp Bonneville will assist its efforts to mitigate and improve response times for wildfires in the area.

Neighbors and community members are invited to learn about upcoming construction on Northeast 68th Street, between Northeast Highway 99 and Northeast St. Johns Road, which serves a densely populated residential area. Much of the road segment has no sidewalks. This project will construct sidewalks between segments of existing sidewalks, and construct four crosswalks.

Vancouver, Wash. – Neighbors and community members are invited to learn about construction of Curtin Creek Community Park in the Glenwood area, off Northeast 72nd Avenue to the north of Northeast 119th Street.

The Parks and Lands division of Clark County Public Works will be working with a tree service contractor to remove several hazardous trees along the Lacamas Heritage Trail. The trees are located near the 2 Creeks Condos southeast of the Heritage Trail trailhead.

A concerned neighbor reported the trees to the City of Camas in 2021. The trees were evaluated by a certified arborist who determined that the trees present a hazard to structures on adjacent properties.

Clark County Public Works is seeking applicants interested in serving as the volunteer park host at Lewisville Regional Park. Volunteer park hosts live at their assigned park and assist with creating a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors. Host duties include (but are not limited to):

Neighbors and community members are invited to learn about upcoming sidewalk and roadway safety improvements for Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue. Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue is a two-lane urban arterial roadway used by up to 800 vehicles per hour. In sections where sidewalks are missing pedestrians must walk on rough, uneven terrain on the narrow roadway shoulder. Schools and public transit facilities in the area create high volumes of pedestrian traffic. Missing sidewalks in an area with high volumes of vehicle and pedestrian traffic creates significant safety concerns for all users.

Clark County Public Works is replacing two sets of damaged school zone flashing beacons: one set at Northeast 99th Street at the school zone for Gaiser Middle, and one set at Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue for Sacajawea Elementary. Crews are scheduled to install new flashing beacons the week of Feb. 14.
