Vancouver, Wash. – The Arthur D. Curtis Children’s Justice Center, CJC, is joining the National Children’s Alliance SHINE Campaign to bring the conversation about child sexual abuse out of the shadows. The goal of the campaign is to end the stigma surrounding child sexual abuse, treat the trauma of victims, and inspire hope for survivors.

CJC is reaching out to the community seeking volunteers to share words of support and be the light that survivors of child sexual abuse can turn to.

“Our goal is to feature one SHINE ambassador every week in 2020,” said Amy Russell, Executive Director of CJC. “We will share volunteers’ messages of hope on our website and social media.”

Potential ambassadors include:

  • Adult survivors of child sexual abuse
  • Advocates of survivors
  • Friends and family members of survivors
  • Those who work to prevent child sexual abuse

“We want survivors of child sexual abuse to know that their stories don’t end with their abuse. Survivors can and do lead rich, fulfilling lives,” said Russell.
