Vancouver, Wash. – The Clark County Charter Review Commission has scheduled meetings for the remainder of 2021 to accommodate moving forward with evaluating possible items for the 2022 general election ballot.
The commission’s meetings moving forward will be 5 pm on the following Wednesdays:
- Sept. 1
- Oct. 6
- Nov. 3
- Nov. 10
- Nov. 17
- Dec. 1
- Dec. 8
- Dec. 15
- Dec. 22
- Dec. 29
Meetings will be held in a virtual format on WebEx until further notice. Meetings are carried live on CVTV channel 23/323 and cvtv.org. Information on providing public comment to the commission is on the county’s website at https://clark.wa.gov/county-manager/meetings-agendas-archives.
As part of its phase two workplan, the commission developed six subcommittees to research and provide information back to the entire commission on several subjects. The new meeting schedule will give those subcommittees time to meet, research, and develop presentations. Subcommittees were established for the following subjects:
- County councilor vacancy provisions
- Ranked choice voting
- Initiatives and referenda
- Redistricting process
- Executive elected consultations/hiring county manager
- Charter preamble/how to use guide
Proposed amendments for November 2021 ballot
The commission previously voted to put seven proposed charter amendments on the 2021 general election ballot. Those proposed measures are on the county’s website at https://clark.wa.gov/county-manager/2021-amendment-measures. Commissioners are available to speak to groups regarding the 2021 proposed amendments. Anyone wishing to schedule a speaker can do so on the county’s website.
