Traveling During an Election

If you are temporarily away, such as an extended vacation, attending college or spending the winter in another state, but Clark County is your home of permanent residence, you can provide a different mailing address for your ballot to be delivered to. Please make your request as early as possible to allow the ballot to arrive at your mailing address on time.

One-Time Only Mailing Address

Effective for less than one year

To change your mailing address you can:

Be sure to provide the first and last days you’ll receive mail at this address.

Traveling overseas? If you will not be able to receive your ballot by mail, overseas voters also have the option of receiving and returning their ballot by email. Be sure to include your email address on the form or when calling our office.

For mailing address changes that will stay in effect for more than one year, you can update your voter registration by:

  • Visiting VoteWA
  • Calling the Elections Office at 564.397.2345

This change will stay in effect until you notify the Elections Office that you have returned.

Seasonal Residents (Snowbirds)

To make sure you receive your ballot throughout the year, update your seasonal mailing address and provide the first and last days you’ll receive mail at this address. We will send your ballot to this address each year between those dates.

To make updates to your seasonal mailing address you can

To verify or cancel your temporary or seasonal mailing address call the Elections Office or email elections@clark.wa.gov.

Voters Away at College

As a student, you probably change your address more frequently than the average voter. Remember to update your voter registration every time you move.

What address should I use?

Your residential address determines which candidates and measures will be on your ballot. This must be a Clark County address that you consider home.

Your mailing address is where your ballot will be mailed. It does not impact the ballot measures and candidates that will appear on your ballot. Your ballot can be sent to you anywhere in the world.

For example, you may list your parents' home in Clark County as your residential address, but a PO Box at college as your mailing address.
