Court Pro Tempore Applications
A Pro Tempore Judge or Commissioner is often referred to as a "Pro Tem". This position temporarily fills in the duties of a Court Commissioner or Judge. Applicants are chosen by the Clark County Superior Court Judges.
Clark County Superior Court is Accepting applications for Pro Tempores. Pro Tempores are most often used for the following dockets:
- Juvenile Criminal
- Truancy/CHINS/ARY
- Dependency
- Family Law (Finalizations, Pro Se, Modifications, Show Cause)
- DVPO/SAPO/Anti-Harassment
- ITA Hearings
- Guardianship and Probate
- Drug Court
- Unlawful Detainers
Qualifications:
- Minimum seven (7) years of practicing law
- Minimum two (2) years practicing law in Washington
- Preferably one (1) year practicing law in Clark County
- Courtroom/litigation experience required
All applications must include:

A resume, which outlines the applicant’s professional knowledge, skills, years of experience, training/ certifications, professional affiliations, and references. Application should demonstrate qualifications listed above.

A cover letter, which specifies which court dockets for which the applicant is applying to pro tempore. The letter must indicate:

The number of years of experience in the area of law for the dockets of interest; and

Number of years experience and proficiency using Liberty, OnBase, Odyssey and/or other case management software; and
-
The applicant’s ability to accept assignments on short notice.

Proof of Washington State Bar Association membership.
