On September 5, 2011, the body of David Gates was found in bushes near 1220 NE 88th Street. Evidence showed that Gates had suffered head trauma, and his death was ruled a homicide. 

Gates was known to be experiencing homelessness and living in the area at the time of his death. The case remains unsolved.
