Brian Kessel, Chief Enforcement Deputy

Brian has been with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office for 22 years. During his tenure, he has served as a Cadet, Patrol Deputy, Field Training Officer, Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor, Crisis Negotiator, Narcotics Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Field Training Coordinator, Tactical Detective Unit Sergeant, and Traffic Unit Sergeant. In 2021, Brian was awarded the Supervisor of the Year Award due to his design and development of a training and career development program for aspiring detectives within the agency. 

Brian has served on the Clark County Deputy Sheriff’s Guild Executive Board for several years. He has held the roles of Executive Board Member, Secretary, Vice President, and most recently, President. He has a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from Washington State University and is an FBI Northwest Command College graduate. 

Brian was born and raised in Vancouver and is a second-generation Clark County Deputy Sheriff.

In his time off, he enjoys woodworking, camping, and golfing. Brian has been a co-coordinator of an annual charity golf tournament for several years. The event has raised tens of thousands of dollars for local charities and, more recently, for scholarships in the name of local fallen officers.
