SOAR (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery)
SOAR is a national project funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. It is designed to increase access to SSI/SSDI for eligible adults who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and have a mental illness and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder.
Looking for Social Security Disability Benefits?
If you are looking for help with a disability application and are engaged with a mental health or homeless service agency, please speak with your therapist or case manager. If you are not currently connected with a mental health or homeless service agency, CVAB (Consumer Voices Are Born) may be able to help. Individuals may also apply online through the Social Security Administration or receive assistance applying through DSHS if qualified for the ABD program.
Want to be a SOAR advocate?
Clark County provides training to advocates who are willing to help people who may qualify for disability benefits through the SOAR process. If you are interested in becoming a SOAR-trained advocate, contact Suzanne Straub at (360) 449-2557, or by email at sstraub@csnw.org.
