Enoch Hazen Barn

Body

This Salt Box barn was constructed in 1888 by Enoch Hazen. The structure is constructed of hand hewn timbers connected with wood pegs and was reportedly built using manual labor from the surrounding farms. The barn has a salt-box shaped roof with metal covering, and wood board and batten siding. The original loose hay tack and carriage is still present and functioning. Built on a slope, the upper part was used for horses, the lower portion for milk cows, and the loft area used for hay storage. The barn was previously recognized as a Washington State Centennial Farm in 1989. It is still owned by the third, fourth, and fifth generation of descendants of Enoch Hazen.
