Jacob Schwartz Barn

Body

The Jacob Schwartz farmhouse and barn were built in 1917. Stories persist that the Schwartz Farm was originally a 640 acre farm that went from 67th Ave to 10thAvenue, but the original owners are unknown. Mill Creek runs through the property. The barn was used for dairy cows and there is a stanchion and two silo foundations, but no standing silos. There is a tractor shed likely built in the 1940's and a chicken coop that still stands.  The barn roof is built in the Gambrel shape, with wood and metal roof covering and a hay hood and ventilator on the roof. The barn is covered in horizontal wood siding. The Schwartz built a second house in 1950 at the NE corner of the property and Mrs. Schwartz sold that to her neighbor, Tom Bishop, before she died.
