Tum Tum Springs Dairy

Body

Jacob Lauffer was discharged from the army around 1900 and settled west of this location. It is not known when he purchased the Tum Tum Springs Dairy, but the Dutch-style barn was already on the property when he purchased it. The barn has been in use since the Lauffer family homesteaded her in the early 1900s. There used to be a milking parlor next to the barn and Tum Tum Springs Dairy operated out of it. Five generations of Lauffers have lived on the farm.  Randy Lawffer is the current owner. He remembers that since the 1950’s, the farm has continuously raised beef and milking cows, chickens and pigs. He remembers taking the shingle roof off the barn and replacing it with a metal roof in the 1950s. The barn is currently used for hay storage for the cows and horses on the farm.
