Fire District Impact Fees
Project Summary
Clark County Community Planning is requesting amendments to five sections of the Clark County Unified Development Code Title 40 to impose, calculate, and assess fire district impact fees (FDIFs). The proposed Title 40 amendments are included in the Staff Report and Exhibits.
Background
Clark County Council has directed the Community Planning Department to draft proposed code amendments to Title 40 Unified Development Code to provide a process for fire districts in the County to assess fire impact fees within their fire district designated service areas. The Growth Management Act (GMA) and associated state statutes allow local governments to assess impact fees to ensure that adequate facilities are available to serve new growth and development; promote orderly growth and development by requiring that new development pay a proportionate share of the cost of new facilities needed to serve growth; and ensure that impact fees are imposed through established procedures and criteria so that specific developments do not pay arbitrary fees or duplicate fees for the same impact. To implement this plan, the fire district impact fees project is included as a 2023 code amendment request.
