Public hearing on growth plan alternatives to continue Nov. 24

Vancouver, WA – A public hearing for the Board of County Councilors to consider a “preferred alternative” for the next growth management plan will continue at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 on the sixth floor of the Public Service Center, 1300 Franklin St.

Four alternatives are under consideration:

• Alternative 1: Readopt the 2007 plan now in effect.
• Alternative 2: Make changes for certain rural and urban areas. Reduce minimum lot sizes from 40 to 20 acres on some forest lands and from 20 to 10 acres on land zoned for agriculture. Expand Ridgefield urban growth area to include Tri-Mountain Golf Course.
• Alternative 3: Expand urban growth areas where requested by Battle Ground, La Center, Ridgefield and Washougal.
• Alternative 4 (Revised Nov.9): Adjust zoning throughout rural area as presented Nov. 9: An environmental impact statement will focus on the “preferred alternative” for public review and comment before the plan update is completed.
