Planning Commission Hearings and Meeting Notes

Work Sessions are typically held on the first Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. with public hearings being held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Alternate Thursdays may be scheduled as needed.

The meetings will be held in a hybrid format with both in-person and virtual participation options for commissioners, staff, and the public. In person will be at the Public Service Center’s 6th floor Hearing Room, 1300 Franklin St., Vancouver. Virtual participation will be via Webex. The hearings will also be carried live on CVTV Channel 23 and online at www.cvtv.org.

Please see instructions below on how to participate in a Planning Commission meeting.

How to participate in a Planning Commission meeting

The Planning Commission holds two types of meetings: work sessions and hearings. The work session is an informational session for the commission members to be briefed by staff in preparation for the hearing. The public is welcome to attend, however there is no opportunity for public comment. That is reserved for the hearing.

For the hearing, public testimony is welcome, and if submitted, will be included in the hearing record.  You may submit advance written or emailed testimony to Planning Commission staff no later than twenty-four hours prior to the time of the hearing for the subject agenda item.

You may submit items like maps, photos, graphics, articles, legal history, etc., to become part of the record of the county’s decision. To do so, you must provide the item. Hand it to staff at the meeting, attach it to your digital testimony, or physically send it via USPS or a delivery service that will get it to the county before the meeting. Referring to an item, sending a link to an item, or showing an item during testimony without giving it to staff, for example, would not enter an item into the record.

During the hearing, you may give spoken testimony.  Each speaker will be limited to three minutes.

Please refer to the Planning Commission's Rules of Procedure for detailed information on public testimony.

If you plan to join the hearing remotely and would like to speak during the public comment period, you will need to connect to the meeting via your computer, mobile device, or by phone. Information on how to participate and how to speak during the public comment period is shown in the video on this page and written instructions can be found with the meeting details.

You need not testify in order to attend.
