The Animal Protection and Control Advisory Board members are appointed by the Clark County Councilors. Their purpose is to review issues relating to animal services and to make recommendations to the Board of Clark County Councilors on changes they feel will promote animal welfare and/or the most efficient animal services possible. They also act as an appeal hearing tribunal to make decisions on appeals of Notices of Violations of city and county animal codes.
Any person who is interested in taking an active role in an animal related matter has an opportunity to speak to the advisory board at one of the meetings.
If you are interested in making a presentation we recommend you forward an outline of the topic you wish to address to Animal Control. Please include your points for discussion, along with any other material you plan to distribute (as long as it is relevant). A little advance preparation is always a good idea. Your presentation will be limited to five minutes. The advisory board may either discuss the issue at the meeting or put it on the agenda for further debate.
Much of your successful participation will come as a result of your preparation. Providing written material in advance of the meeting allows staff to forward copies to each of the advisory board members so they can be prepared for discussion at the meeting.
Advanced public notice of these meetings is published in the Columbian newspaper and can be found on our website. Written comments need to be submitted ten days prior to a scheduled advisory board meeting by mail:
