Which Floodplain Permit Do I Need?

Body

Revised 4.28.25

Does my project require a floodplain inquiry, a floodplain permit, or neither?
  • If there is no regulated floodplain, floodway or floodway fringe [also called Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA)] on the property, the project does not require an inquiry or review.
  • If there is regulated floodplain on the property but there is no proposed development or construction within the regulated floodplain boundary, apply for a floodplain inquiry review.
  • If there is regulated floodplain on the property and development is proposed within the floodplain boundary, apply for a floodplain permit review.
