Vancouver, WA – Clark County’s Recycled Arts Festival has won two awards from the Washington Festival and Events Association for benefiting the community and best overall event.

The awards were presented to Sally Fisher, an outreach specialist in Environmental Services who is the event’s founder and coordinator, at a Tuesday ceremony in Olympia.

One award, the Community Impact Award, was given for having the most positive impact on a community of any Washington festival or event in 2015.

The second, the Grand Summit Award, is the association’s top honor. It was given for having the best overall unity, clarity of message, design, layout, creativity and overall community appeal of any Washington festival or event in 2015.

Events across the state competed for the awards.

“I’m ecstatic!” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director. “These awards further solidify the festival’s status as one of the Pacific Northwest’s best events.”

Now in its 11^th year, the Recycled Arts Festival is a two-day event showcasing artwork made of recycled or repurposed materials.

This year, the Recycled Arts Festival will be held June 25 -26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The festival fills Esther Short Park at 8th and Columbia streets.

More than 140 artists will participate, along with nine bands. Environmentally based presentations and family friendly activities will be included.
