Vancouver, WA – Clark County will hold a Green Neighbors Recycling Day event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in yellow parking lot 1 at Clark College, 1900 Fort Vancouver Way.

County residents can drop off block foam, electronic equipment, old tires without rims, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and scrap metal. Participants are limited to five tires per person. Shredding services will be available, with a limit of two banker boxes per visit. No business waste will be accepted.

Household hazardous waste (HHW) such as paints, pesticides, poisons, automotive fluids and chemicals will NOT be accepted at this event. Household hazardous waste can be disposed of for free at these three transfer stations:

  • Washougal Transfer Station, 4020 S. Grant St.,
    8 a.m. - 4 p.m. third Saturday of the month
  • Central Transfer and Recycling Center, 11034 N.E. 117th Ave.,
    8 a.m.- 4 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday
  • West Vancouver Materials Recovery Center, 6601 N.W. Old River Road,
    8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday

Residents who take household hazardous waste to the transfer stations between April 1 and Oct. 31 can enter to win a $20 gift card.

“Recycling Day events provide Clark County residents the opportunity to drop off items that locally are more difficult to properly dispose of and recycle, such as block foam,” said Kim Harless, who leads the Recycling Day events.

Green Neighbors, a Public Health program of Clark County Solid Waste, will sponsor the event in partnership with the city of Vancouver. A Washington State Department of Ecology grant provides funding.

Recycling Day events are free and open to all Clark County residents. Proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or other identification with an address, could be required.
