Choose from four, April 30 take-back locations throughout Clark County

Vancouver, WA – Clark County residents can dispose of expired or unwanted medications on Saturday, April 30, at one of four prescription drug take-back locations in Vancouver and La Center.

All locations will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are:

  • PeaceHealth Memorial Health Center, 100 E. 33rd St.
  • Kaiser Permanente ‒ Cascade Park, 12607 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd.
  • Kaiser Permanente ‒ Salmon Creek, 14406 N.E. 20th Ave.
  • La Center Police Department, 105 W. 5th St., La Center

Improper drug disposal can be a health hazard and an environmental concern. Unused medications can end up in the wrong hands and, if disposed of down the toilet or drain, chemicals can end up in local waterways.

“Spring clean your medicine cabinet,” said Don Benton, Environmental Services director. “This is a perfect chance to safeguard your family and community.”

The medication take-back event is sponsored by PREVENT!, a local nonprofit aimed at curbing teen alcohol and drug abuse, and Clark County Environmental Services, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Vancouver Police Department, La Center Police Department, Kaiser Permanente, PeaceHealth and U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency.

Unwanted medications can be disposed of year-round at several collection sites across the county. Controlled substances, such as pain killers and tranquilizers, can be taken to participating law enforcement agencies. Non-controlled substances, such as over-the-counter medications, can be taken to local participating pharmacies. All unwanted medications will be accepted at the April 30 event.
