SCHOOLS & CHILD DAY CARES

Contagious illness is common among children and can spread quickly in schools and childcare centers. Early detection and response can help prevent further spread of disease.

Reporting requirements in Washington:

Schools and childcare facilities are required to notify the local health department of the presence of a contagious disease (WAC 246-110-020) or of suspected or confirmed outbreaks of notifiable conditions that may be associated with the facility (WAC 246-101-415 & 246-101-420). The goal of reporting is to prevent further spread of disease by implementing appropriate control measures.

 

How to report to the Communicable Disease Program:

(1) Fax the disease specific report form to 564.397.8080 (secure fax)

(2) Call the Communicable Disease Program (Ph: 564.397.8182) for any questions.
