LaLonde family

The county agreed to name the future park in honor of Kate and Clarence LaLonde when it purchased the property from the family in 1999. Clarence LaLonde first bought the land from the state in 1911. His family used the property for a variety of agricultural purposes for nearly 100 years, before selling it to the county for use as a future park. As of 2011, Kate and Clarence's son and grandchildren still live west of the park.
